~*Updates*~
6-23-09: New update today. It's kind of a weird one. It seems to be entirely supernatural creatures--like fairies and spirits--and macabre stuff. (Well... that one goth girl isn't exactly "macabre," but I still wouldn't show her to my mom.)
6-13-09: So my own personal idiocy just now caused me to lose my text updates since January. Because I'm stupid. I can't remember what I had in there so... let's see... got a new server, which deleted my account and really pissed me off... switched to another one which isn't that reliable but I can't find anything better--at least nothing's been deleted (because of anyone other than me, anyway)... did a total redesign of the site and put it up May 15... uhh... I think that's all important that happened... wonder why I care so much? Probably because I'm kind of OCD and it drives me nuts if I don't know the dates of when certain things happened. Yeah. I know. I am strange. ...And stupid.
1-31-09: I only scanned today 'cause I had to scan that card before I gave it to my friend, and her birthday party is tonight. So I only have two pictures. Actually I've started on a couple of comic pages, but I've not finished them yet. I'm working on a 6-page comic project. I can already tell it'll be very hard, and I don't know if I can pull it off, but I'm going to try. I couldn't scan the first page yet, because it's only sketched, not inked.
1-8-09: First update of the new year! And I keep writing '08 on everything. It's getting annoying. Anyway I haven't had any good art days this year yet, so it's just halfway decent stuff and a meme that I finished today. I drew the pics for it in order, so only the last two are from 2009, but meh, whatever.
12-31-08: Happy New Year's Eve! The most appropriate day for the last update of the year. I've got a style series of four pictures, and a six-image expression sheet for a story character. I know those are usually done for characters you have to draw, but I felt like it. Anyway it's almost 2009! Can you believe it? It feels like the last New Year I celebrated, everybody was worried about Y2K. We're all getting so old! Here's to another year, another semester of college (college! I can't believe that either, even though it'll be my fourth!), and another set of birthdays for everyone to celebrate all the while thinking they can't believe they've grown so old!
Happy 2009, about 12 hours early!
12-12-08: Merry Christmas! Yes, I know it's a little early. But I finally finished my Christmas pic yesterday. Ugh, I did nothing but draw and color all day yesterday and both days before! Tuesday I completed the cover for my novel Masks in Moonlight. I did all of it that one day! Wednesday I colored my Christmas angel, and yesterday I made the bg. My. Neck. Hurts. Like. Hell. I really can't be bent over the computer all day again! So I'm posting and then I'm off. I've been craning over this thing for days and it honestly hurts bad.
9-23-08: I'm back on DA. For that reason, I'll probably have smaller but more frequent updates. I'm thinking of inking and coloring the lady vixen. I drew her as an entry for a contest someone was holding on DA. We have yet to see if I'll actually bother doing that... since I inked and started coloring my self-portrait, too, and still haven't finished. I hate coloring >.<
8-9-08: It's my mom's birthday and finally, another update! I finally plucked up the nerve to rip all those beautiful pages out of my beautiful sketchbook (*sniff!*) so I could scan them. Unfortunately, sketchbooks smudge horribly. I only have one I want to point out today: my fanservice--or, I suppose, manservice--pic: Gemini. Anyway, these 34 pictures are all the worthy ones from March 'til now.
6-27-08: PSYCHE! No update. But I have an excuse, and in my mind a particularly valid one! (Probably only in my mind.) It's not lack of material, and it's not laziness. It's... I started drawing in a proper sketchbook in April, and I just can't bring myself to pull pages out to scan them. Ooooh, I like having a collection of sketches in a sketchbook like that! But there's no way I can scan them like that. But I don't want to rip them out~! I'm so conflicted. Anyways, that's why. If you live near me, you can see them because that sketchbook comes with me friggin' everywhere (except work, but meh, everywhere else). Otherwise... I still don't want to rip them out just so I can scan them... *sigh*
3-11-08: Finally, the first update of the new year. I took forever, I know. Maybe I just wanted it to be the new year to the Chinese too... but in that case I could've updated a month ago... uhh... actually I was partially lazy and partially waiting for more details on a request (which I still haven't gotten). I like the way Janus turned out, looking about the right age this time, unlike last. Check it out.
12-30-07: Last update of the year. I have three originals, one Neopets reference joke image, one request, and one art exchange. In kind of a hurry so I'll say more later.
12-19-07: Update time again. I finished (with color!) my Christmas picture for this year. Last year I skimped and did a sketch. This year I drew an angel. (I've done a Christmas pic every year since 2004. First was a Christmas elf, next Santa's little Shinigami, then my lazy sketchy chibi mistletoe shenanigans.) I used a new technique on the angel. My brother uses it now--it involves vectorizing the line art in Flash. Unfortunately, it looks a lot better with his new simplistic style (it's similar to newer Disney artwork) than it does with my more detailed manga-esque style. A lot of details were lost--some of my lines got really thick, and some disappeared altogether and I had to draw them back in. Next time I color a picture I'll try something else.
TELL ME on the tagboard if my angel doesn't load! (Or, if he does.) I had a 1.2 megabyte file and only my computer would load it, I had four friends say it didn't work (I triple-checked URLs, that wasn't it). I managed to get it down to a 416 kilobyte file (*sniff* at the cost of some quality) but since it always loaded on my computer I don't know if it works for anybody else. Tell me whether it does or not, 'k? Thanks.
10-23-07: After over eight months, I've finally scanned and updated! There are fifty-five new images up! Yikes! Now I really need to get back to that paper I have due tomorrow. I meant to do this update months ago, after I figured out what was wrong with this site and fixed it, but school got in the way. College sucks.
NOTICE OVERRIDE: After months of trying to work through this page-loading-blank crap and tech support not being able to figure it out, I figured it out. Grr. Well, that means the site is back up! Now I need to scan again... *groans* I have so much stuff that needs scanning...
IMPORTANT NOTICE: Something must be wrong with the server or something, because only the index page of this site loads! It's not anything I did, because it used to work, and I didn't change the code. I'm trying to get this cleared up but until then, well, yeah, this sucks. Now you know what's happening... and that I know. If you need to get a hold of me, chances are good you already know how to. I'm not putting my email up because every time I do I die a spammity death. (...I got better.)
4-6-07: Happy (?) Good Friday, everyone. I changed the design today. Not the layout, but the colors and graphics. Since my dad lectured me for having "demons" on my site (for crying out loud, Phantom_Tristan is a neopet, not a "demon," GAH it's annoying and his lecture pissed me off to no end), I changed the graphics. THERE. He'll probably think Torrin's background makes him look like a demon too. I don't care. Leave me alone! I like it.
2-8-07: So I updated. Happy now, Ryan?! I have a new wallpaper up now too, and I'll make a new top banner out of it soon. Not too much else to say, especially because everybody's bugging me to go watch a movie right now. Later.
12-23-06: The site doesn't look any different, does it? ...Good, it shouldn't. I changed the code on all of the pages, and now they're all .php files instead of .html ones. This was so that I could use PHP's include command to include a template page that contains the links and layout and stuff, in addition to the link to my external CSS file. I inserted it, and then thanks to my CSS file, I could put all the main content of the page under "div class=main" and it works like a charm. Looks exactly like it should. I'm really happy. I'll only have to change one page and/or one CSS file to change all the links or images or layout or whatever on all my pages. I figured I only wanted to have to change every page to put the next year on the links once.
10-26-06: The "..." between AlexMagnar03 and AlexGalen01 in the updates list represents that there are images in between. I like having the latest and previous update columns even, so I omitted several images (they're in the archive, though). Yori Kirai, Crystal Crothe, Bish Study 3, and two random guys were omitted from the latest update list on this page.
9-5-06: I've been meaning to update for quite some time. Haven't updated in over two months. And all I have to show, art-wise, for six weeks of summer vacation and three more of school is nine unfinished sketches?? Okay, Ming Yue and Dragon x Davis are inked, Anathema Story 2 is partially inked (I didn't finish it on purpose. I was botching the sketch more and more with ink), and my Nightmare Before Christmas fanart (Sally) is completely finished (and ate craploads of ink). But that still leaves five sketchy images!! Oh well. My favorite pics in this batch are the aforementioned Sally fanart and Leon Drann, even though I've changed his costume design significantly since drawing that pic.
6-26-06: My latest piece, Blanche, is, I think, really great. I like the colored version looks nice too. I think it turned out wonderfully. I am sure I will gag at the sight of it in two or three months, but right now, it maketh me happy...eth.
4-11-06: It's been quite a while now, hasn't it? I've had people say my latest pic, the second Aeris fanart, is my best work yet. I should hope so, since it was one of the most, if not the most, time-consuming piece I've ever done. Certainly the most time-consuming piece that I didn't color on Photoshop. But I think she looks good in black and white. Or grayscale. Or whatever. *sigh* I still can't help but wish I were the best artist in existence! But I know better. That's just ridiculous. There are lots of people with far more talent than I... but, well, at least, uhh, well, most of them aren't fifteen!!! *sigh* Sometimes I think it would be nicer if I couldn't draw at all, 'cause then it wouldn't be such a sensitive ego point. But ah well.
I am thinking of doing a new layout picture. Not for Easter, it's too late for that (come on, that pic of Tris took me months to finish!), besides, it's too short-lived. But maybe I'll think of something else nice I can do. Something more... professional. ...Hahahahaha!! Good one. At any rate. If you've got any suggestions for what kind of image I should do, leave me a note on the tag-board.
2-25-06: I know I'll never be a great artist... or even a good one... but at least... well, I try, you know? It's so discouraging to look at good artists, because I know I can never even match them in skill, much less surpass them, and I cannot bear to come in last place; I cannot even stand coming in second. But if I do not look at good artists, I will never improve at all. And it may seem encouraging to look at bad artists; but what consolation is that, to look at the art of people who never draw anything? Just to compare yourself to people who are not artists? Being an artist is awful. Brian and I came up with this phrase a few days back: "Most artists are about as beautiful as they are mentally and emotionally stable." I added to it, "...And their bodies as strong as their self-esteem." There are two stereotypes of artists: one has an amazingly overinflated ego, and the other has no self-esteem at all. I am not sure if any of the first kind exist. But the second type do; all artists I know of are like that. Myself included, oh yes, myself included more than most. :(
2-20-06: I am addicted to Bleach (the anime, not the cleaning substance). This is a bad thing. We are running out of episodes that we have not yet watched. So, in the meantime, I have begun watching Trinity Blood. I have never seen such amazing artwork before! Only thing is, my brother already went ahead and watched it WITHOUT ME (grr!) a while ago (I wanted to watch it with him, but he'd watch it while I was gone!), so I can't watch it when he's around anymore (and he's usually around when I'm done with my work, spoon it). The files won't work on either of the other computers. Izzy is too slow, Esmeralda's programs are all messed up, so Karasu is the only compy that'll play them. Brian's. Spoon.
2-12-06: Well, no update today, sort of; I put up a picture I drew on the 27th of January, and with my update process I'm just pretending that I put it up when I drew it. I really only finished it (with the text and stuff) today. On another topic, I have no idea when it happened, in fact it was probably a while ago (last time I paid attention was like, September or October of last year), but they doubled the amount of space I have on this site. Electric Kitten's baby kitten package now has 400 megs. Sweet, huh? I'm lovin' it. But I hate McDonald's. Right. Umm. Lotsa space. It's great. Really. I love having way more space than I need. I'm using less than 30. But yeah, Geocities free would not be enough for me anymore. 15 or 400... hmm...
2-11-06: I have actually two new updates today, Bish Study and Valentine's Kiss. I just put the Valentine's one as the latest update because I drew it after the bish study. That was actually Bish Study #4, and the only one that was good enough to post. He ended up looking a lot like Kyo Souma in the last episode of Fruits Basket, but that was unintentional. Yeah, yeah, I know, he has no shirt on. It's not like it's detailed or anything, geez. I was practicing. I am learning how to draw male musculature. I just got the how to draw manga book on male characters and I am so happy with it! At any rate. The Valentine's Kiss one was a REQUEST. This was my first time drawing kissing so if you don't like it tough. It looks really weird because of the angles I put them at but it was a lot easier than trying to draw their bodies close together and it's a little less mushy this way (though physically impossible). Maybe they're in space or something. I dunno.
1-19-06: The day before yesterday I finished the illustration to the right, a girl whom I named Garnet. It was a kind of weird lonely bar scene in my head and all I drew was the girl in a pose that doesn't look quite right without the bar counter. Eh, it's not like I know what a bar looks like, except in movies. But that's a good thing... anyway, I think she turned out well. The hair looks better than most any I've ever done.
1-13-06: Well, LS got a new look today. I like it, myself. Some of the code, simple as it is, was a challenge for me, because I am... well... how to put it... not very good at this stuff. Well I hope you all like it. It's as good as I could do. Coming soon, I will make a page for each individual illustration. Soon... -ish...
