Drawn on: 3-13-09 | Aure is from my still-unnamed story (the one with dragons). He's a 10-year-old dragon-blooded boy who was nearly stoned by the villagers of Laroniste until Aries, at the time a servant girl for the baron (and the story's heroine, as well as the young woman to whom Aure is clinging in the picture), intervened and saved him, and both ended up on the run. Aure is usually a cheerful, friendly boy, but he is shy of strangers, and since Aries saved his life they've both sort of adopted each other, so Aure sometimes hides behind her as though she were his mother (for the record, she's too young to be his mother; she's not quite 24). She has a strong maternal instinct in addition to her bold-faced sense of justice, and so she not only deals well with Aure as her child, but actually enjoys it. The two have become very close.
Yes, those are scales on his forehead, face, and hand, because, as mentioned, he is dragon-blooded, and very prominently so. I drew this with a particular scene from the story in mind, when he meets two girls (a few years older than him) who are full-blooded dragons (though in human form at the moment), which makes him nervous since it's a situation he's never been in before, and so he hides behind Aries' skirts, which just makes the dragon girls think he's absolutely adorable.
