Update Icon Drawn on: 7-5-09 | 6.5 hours drawing time. It was unbelievable. This is picture number 6 you see scanned here; I got generally what I wanted on my third try, but I kept making little mistakes that left big eraser gashes or crinkling the paper in bad spots and crap like that so I kept copying the picture onto another sheet with a light box. Finally, after three incarnations foiled in such manner, I copied it onto card stock.

The idea for this character, Remy, is a 12- or 13-year-old London street rat sometime in the early 1900s. Okay, so maybe I just liked the idea of a cute little green-eyed dirty blond in a newsboy cap and massively oversized, grungy green jacket talking in low-brow slum British. Her real name isn't Remy, it's what she and the other kids named her, but she doesn't exactly know what her name really is. She doesn't remember her parents, only her fellow-street rats.

She's also a concept I might use for a future 7th Sea character, a young, illiterate Avalonian girl rather lacking in social graces ("no one's ever got any grace for me in social settin's, see"). (Though obviously I'd have to change the time period... and I confess I'm not sure how she'd be of any use in battle, and she'd suck at soaking damage. I don't have a lucky d10 I can use for her or anything.) Instead of being the upright (and uptight) military noblewoman, always in charge, always fair-minded, always decisive and straight-laced, and rather a jack of all trades in terms of skills (skill munchkin!) that I ran last time, I'd have a swindling street rat utterly lacking in etiquette but absolutely golden in street skills. Unfortunately I'd only get one drama die, since I can't reasonably give a tiny 12-year-old girl more than a 1 Brawn, but I could make up for it with 3 Resolve and 3 Wits. I haven't actually built her, but I think she'd be great.
