Completed on: 7-4-09 | I knew I had to shade it... so I finally did. This was my first real attempt to pencil shade a picture in a few years now. I was never very good at it... probably mostly because all I used to do was sketch in lots of straight lines. I spent about three hours on the shading here. I still don't like the face, but the rest is looking pretty good to me, considering this is essentially a first try for real pencil shading. I like the hair a lot better now, too.I re-shaded his nose after this scan. But I guess his nose doesn't look great in either picture, which is probably part of why I don't like his face. (I'm so picky about noses!) I also forgot to shade his eyes until after this scan... *sigh* Well I'm not doing it again!
